Pocketpair promised the biggest Pal drop in Palworld history for 1.0, and they delivered: 72 new Pals, made up of 47 entirely new species and 25 variants of old favorites, pushing the total Paldeck to 287.
A word on accuracy before we start. The spawn maps and name lists floating around this weekend are a mess. Auto-captioned videos mangle half the names, and the pre-launch spam guides invented the rest. Every name below is verified against the live Paldeck databases and Game8’s wiki, so you can search these spellings and actually find things.
The Headliners
Skutlass, the Sword You Can Pet
The trailer’s mysterious sword eel has a name. Skutlass is a Water-type whose partner skill, Fish Fillet, transforms it into a katana in your hands with a monstrous 2,600 attack. The catch: leave it in sword form too long and it collapses from exhaustion, so treat it like a burst weapon, not a main. A fire version, Skutlass Ignis, hits even harder.
Panthalus
The giant whale from the trailer is a Level 70 Water-type quest boss, summoned with the Echoing Flute at the Deserted Islet, and catching it is literally how you unlock the World Tree. Bonus nobody expected: it’s a rideable flying mount, and stationed at a base it patrols the sky and bombards intruders. One per save, story-critical, coolest capture in the update.
Dupin
The jester everyone met in the reveal. When your health drops below 50%, Dupin detonates an explosion around you and boosts your attack by 30% while you stay low. A panic button with a punchline, plus a genuinely strong Kindling 7 worker.
Astralym
The six-winged dragon guarding the World Tree finale. You cannot catch it. It exists to end your run and fill a Paldeck entry, and that’s all we’ll say without spoilers.
Where the New Pals Live
Sunreach (the floating islands) holds the biggest cluster of new species: Ophydia and Eidrolon roam as Level 69 world bosses, and the isles are home to Tropicaw, Hoodle, Bakemi, Slowatt, Solmora, Souffline, Lapiron, Lapure, Dynamoff, Valentail, and more. If a new Pal isn’t near the start, it’s probably up here.
The World Tree is the endgame roster: Renjishi (Level 78 boss, Kindling 8), Aegidron (Level 79 boss, Mining 8), Venusa, Solenne, Mycora, Loomen, Wistella, Roujay, Flaracle, plus Silvance and Dandilord, whose partner skills grant immunity to the region’s explosive spores and toxic gas. Catch those two early, they make the whole zone livable.
The classic map got new blood too: Pupperai and Clovee join the starting grasslands (Pupperai’s Best Boy skill adds 10% melee damage, a genuinely nice early buff), Wispaw prowls at night and boosts capture rates when you land back-bonus throws, Sekhmet rules the desert, and Gildra, Snugloo, Muffly, Carnibora, Leafan, Majex, Moldron, and Needoll fill out the mid-game regions.
Best New Base Workers
Solenne is the new crafting queen with Handiwork 8, the highest in the game. Aegidron brings Mining 8 if you can crack its Level 79 boss fight. Renjishi does the same for Kindling 8. Sekhmet is the sleeper: its Desert Empress skill boosts Anubis’s work speed by 20% (30% if Sekhmet works alongside it), so the old workhorse just got a raise. Early game, Clovee and Puffolt quietly buff your whole base’s Gathering and Electricity levels.
Best for Combat and Utility
Eidrolon is the flyer to chase, a rideable Dragon and Dark mount that scales with your party composition. Gildra literally cheats death, reviving itself once per fight. Carnibora turns every dodge roll into a damage whirlwind. And Wispaw plus Muffly form a capture-rate toolkit that makes filling the other 280 Paldeck slots far less painful.
What Busy Players Should Catch First
One evening this week? Grab Pupperai and Clovee on your way out of the tutorial, hunt Wispaw after dark for the capture buff, and beeline Sekhmet if you run an Anubis base. Save the World Tree crew for when the story sends you there anyway. Skip the Level 78+ boss grinds until you’re genuinely endgame, they’re trophies, not necessities.
The 25 Variants
Old friends, new elements: Tanzee Ignis, Woolipop Terra, Gloopie Primo, Univolt Cryst, Polapup Terra, Elgrove Cryst, Petallia Ignis, Beakon Cryst, Rayhound Cryst, Needoll Noct, Moldron Cryst, Sibelyx Primo, Starryon Primo, Prixter Lux, Tetroise Primo, Nitemary Botan, Smokie Cryst, Celesdir Noct, Knocklem Ignis, Snock Lux, Solmora Lux, Eidrolon Ignis, Dualith Noct, Skutlass Ignis, and Pierdon Cryst.
