Best Palworld Base Locations (2026): Every Spot Worth Building

Fred
Fred · · 8 min read

You spent 45 minutes scouting a base spot, dropped your Pal Box, got raided immediately by level 40 Pals you had no business encountering, and watched your entire operation get torched.

We’ve all been there. Base placement in Palworld is genuinely one of the most important decisions you’ll make, and the game doesn’t exactly hand you a roadmap.

So let’s fix that.

This guide breaks down the best base locations in Palworld post-Tides of Terraria update, covering what makes each spot worth your time, the coordinates to get there, and what you should actually be doing at each one.

What Makes a Base Location Good?

Before we get into spots, here’s the three-part filter I use for any location:

Resources. Are there mining nodes inside your base radius? Meteorite spawns nearby? Enemy faction bases you can farm? Points of interest that justify the zip code?

Buildable space. Flat is king. Big flat is better king. Cliffs can be useful for the Pal Expedition Station, but anything resembling a slope is just going to frustrate you during construction.

Safety. Will you get raided? How often, and by what level? Some spots are literally un-raidable due to terrain. Those are worth knowing about.

Keep these three things in mind as we go through the list.

Why Enemy Faction Bases Matter More Than You Think

Before we hit coordinates, you need to understand why I keep mentioning enemy faction bases near every good spot.

Two reasons:

First, they drop custom schematics specific to their faction. These aren’t things you can craft from the tech tree. You have to loot them.

Second, and more importantly, enemy faction bases have the highest treasure map drop rate in the game. Treasure maps lead to some of the best loot Palworld has to offer. Being able to farm multiple faction bases without ever leaving your general area is a massive advantage.

Bonus: when you clear them, you’ll get a guaranteed Kinship Peach drop from any caged Pal you release. Small, but it adds up.

Early Game Spots

The Meteorite Row (-187, 526)

This one’s early-game gold. Flat terrain, low-level Pals, and the area around it is absolutely stacked.

You’ve got two enemy faction bases within sprint distance. A meteorite spawn basically sitting across the river. Another one slightly further out. Even a third if you look northwest. And a fourth cluster if you go right.

Fishing spots. Multiple POIs. It’s borderline excessive for an early location.

The one downside is the faction bases sometimes spawn as camps rather than full bases. If that happens: leave render range, come back. They’ll convert. Then farm them. Rinse, repeat.

Coordinates: -187, 526

The Big Flat (196, 68)

Some people just want space to build. No judgment. This is your spot.

Massive flat surface. Low threats (you can still get raided, but walls fix that quickly). Forested backdrop with genuinely nice scenic views. And the surrounding area is loaded with salvage nodes, which means consistent materials without having to trek far.

There are also a couple of low-level dungeons nearby. Run them for Lotus items, which you can turn into player stat potions.

Not the most resource-dense spot, but if you’re a builder first and a survivalist second, this is where you want to set up.

Coordinates: 196, 68

Mid-Game Resource Bases

The Ore Outcropping (258, 361)

Seven ore nodes, a chest spawn right in the middle of them, and an enemy faction base directly across the way.

It’s an elevated position with plenty of flat building space at the top. There’s also a bounty nearby, an alpha spawn below, and you’re basically looking straight across at the volcano, which has its own reasons to visit (eggs, chests, easy pickings early on since the area is nearly empty of aggressive Pals).

This whole island has something like 13 faction bases total. If you enjoy farming treasure maps, this island should be on your radar as a primary base biome.

Coordinates: 258, 361

The Coal + Flat Combo (211, 135 and 199, 91)

Two-in-one location. This is worth knowing because they serve different purposes.

The first spot (211, 135) is a non-raidable coal mining base. You drop your Pal Box, dump your Pals out, and they can access all the coal nodes without you having to build a single wall. There’s also a red chest spawn inside. Fully passive income operation.

The second spot (199, 91) is a large flat space nearby with a river you can incorporate into your build. More of a home base vibe, especially since it’s close to the Goofin Marsh and has two meteorite spawns.

Use the coal spot as a dedicated farm and the flat spot as your actual living quarters.

The Best Resource Base in the Game (192, 38)

This is the one.

Giant mountain outcropping. Five or six ore nodes and five or six coal nodes all within a single base radius. Non-raidable because you’re elevated on a peak. Fishing nearby. A skill fruit tree below. A bounty spawn. A faction base nearby.

Now, before you say “I thought mining stations made nodes pointless,” here’s the thing: Pals actually farm physical nodes faster than the automated stations can process. If you want consistent, high-volume ore and coal without burning tech points, keep a few dedicated Pals here and let them work.

This is objectively the most resource-efficient base location on the main island.

Coordinates: 192, 38

Late Game and Sakurajima

Sakurajima: The All-Around Best Map Sector

When you get to Sakurajima, the calculus changes entirely. Oil nodes are basically everywhere across the island, so you’re not hunting for them the way you would on the main map.

Spot 1: 513, -175, This is a solid starter Sakurajima base. Two oil nodes you can double-stack for efficiency. Elemental chest on your doorstep. Faction base above you. Fruit tree nearby. Multiple dungeons in close radius. Salvage and fishing on the outside. There are also mushrooms here that drop mysterious mushrooms and regular ones, which are useful for crafting medicine and upgrading resource stations.

Spot 2: Cherry Blossom Base, If you want the aesthetics, there’s a flat space on Sakurajima surrounded by cherry blossom trees with a clear sightline to the world tree. No oil nodes, which means no visual clutter either. It’s a flex base. Show it off. It still has a dungeon right below, a meteorite spawn, multiple faction bases and fruit trees within flying distance, and a bounty nearby.

The Waterfall Base (Personal Pick for Best in Game)

This is one of the top picks, and honestly, it’s hard to argue.

On Sakurajima, there’s a base location with two oil nodes you can double-stack (they actually look good stacked under a structure, weirdly). Behind the build zone: a beautiful waterfall. In front: alpha fishing right below the falls, and a dungeon literally on your doorstep.

Here’s the kicker: placing the Pal Expedition Station into the cliff face at this location actually blocks the only raid approach. You get all the dungeon farming and resource access without the raid headache. It’s effectively non-raidable once you set it up correctly.

Three more dungeons within close flight distance. Multiple enemy faction bases nearby. Fruit trees. Fishing. Bounty spawns.

Check every single box on the criteria list? Yes. Best base in the game? Probably.

The Tides of Terraria Islands

The new Terraria update added seven islands, and they change the base game quite a bit if you know how to use them.

Key facts:

  • You cannot build on the Terraria islands themselves
  • Every Terraria island has a chance to spawn two Kinship Peaches naturally. These are the only locations in the game where Kinship Peaches spawn in the wild
  • All Terraria islands have elemental chests that drop Dog Coins, elemental organs (fire organs, power fluids, electric organs, depending on type), and a small chance at a work suitability book
  • The fishing here is exceptional. Sparkle fishing spots guarantee random rare passives or alpha Pal spawns, making this the fastest early-game method to farm alpha Pal tech points

Since you can’t build on the islands, you need to build nearby and travel to them. Here are two worth noting:

Island 1 (399, -466): Lower-level Pals, four elemental chests, and one of the Kinship Peach spawn locations is actually documented (the other is on a database linked in the source video). Three oil nodes on the bottom of the island and three more on top. Excellent fishing density. You can get here early using a Chillet (who can swim despite being a land Pal, with enough stamina to make the crossing).

Island 2 (610, 173): A pirate-themed island with solid fishing, chest spawns, and a documented treasure map spawn location. The creator found a gilded missile launcher schematic from this chest. Best building spot is the flat area near the fast travel point at the base of the cliffs.

Specialty Bases Worth Knowing

The Non-Raidable Coal Cave (211, 135)

Already mentioned above, but worth calling out separately. If you want passive coal income with zero defensive investment, this is the spot. Drop and forget.

Fishing Density Record (113, 566)

This flat spot near the giant skeleton has eleven fishing spots within walking distance of the base. If you’re trying to grind rainbow passives, alpha Pals, ancient civilization parts, or gold from selling fish, this is your farming home base.

Legendary Bow Dungeon Cluster (41, -254)

Two fishing spots nearby, and surrounded by level 29 dungeons. Level 29 dungeons are specifically the tier that can drop the legendary compound bow, which is one of the best mid-game weapons due to ammo efficiency. If you’re in that mid-game power spike window, having a base here while you grind those dungeons is a real time saver.

Coordinates: 41, -254

Desert Dungeon Hub (279, 247)

The desert biome has the highest dungeon density of any area on the map. This spot has four dungeons in tight proximity, an egg nest event, bounties, meteorite spawns, coal and oil nodes, and a faction base below you. It’s the best single location for dungeon grind efficiency if that’s your thing.

The Skill Fruit Tree Thing (And Why It Matters)

Multiple base locations in this guide mention wild skill fruit trees nearby. Here’s why that’s actually important:

Pals with high gathering and transport skills (like condensed Nolms) will gather from wild skill fruit trees, wild Nightstar Sand deposits, and wild Kinship Peaches at 2x to 3x the rate compared to their planted equivalents.

This is a mechanic that isn’t clearly explained in-game. Planted versions have a hard cap. Wild versions don’t. So having a wild skill fruit tree inside or near your base radius is a legitimate passive bonus if you have the right Pals assigned.

One More Thing: Covering Nodes You Don’t Want

If you love a location but hate that it has mining nodes (they respawn, they’re annoying, they take up space), just cover them with foundation pieces. Nodes stop respawning once they’re covered. This means any location with unwanted quartz, coal, or ore nodes isn’t off the table. Lay foundations, problem solved.

Spending 600+ hours in a game and manually placing nearly 600 map markers to test base locations is a real commitment. Huge credit to the original video this guide is based on for doing exactly that. FAQ

What are the three most important factors for choosing a Palworld base location?
The three key criteria are: Resources (mining nodes, meteorite spawns, faction bases), Buildable space (flat terrain is crucial), and Safety (raid frequency and enemy levels). Using these as your filter will help you avoid bad placements like the one that got raided by level 40 Pals in 45 minutes.
Why should I build near enemy faction bases?
Enemy faction bases drop exclusive custom schematics you can't get from the tech tree, and they have the highest treasure map drop rate in the game. Plus, releasing caged Pals gives you guaranteed Kinship Peach drops, which adds up over time.
What's the best base location for mining ore and coal?
The coordinates 192, 38 is the best resource base on the main island, featuring 5-6 ore nodes and 5-6 coal nodes in a single base radius on a non-raidable mountain peak. Pals actually farm physical nodes faster than automated mining stations, making this location objectively the most resource-efficient.
Where should I build on Sakurajima if I want to avoid raids?
The Waterfall Base on Sakurajima is the top pick, it has two stackable oil nodes, dungeon access, and a Pal Expedition Station positioned in the cliff face that blocks the only raid approach, making it effectively non-raidable.
Can I build a base on the new Terraria islands from the Tides of Terraria update?
No, you cannot build directly on Terraria islands themselves. However, they're valuable for farming, they're the only locations where Kinship Peaches spawn naturally, and they have exceptional fishing with sparkle spots that guarantee rare passives or alpha Pal spawns.
