You know that feeling when you stumble upon a game that takes you back to your first magical RPG experience? That’s exactly what Wyldheart’s new co-op RPG preview did for me. It’s like Fable and D&D had a digital love child, inviting us into a world full of fantasy and teamwork. I’m genuinely excited to see how this adventure unfolds. But that’s not all we’ve got today. Let’s check out the rest of the gaming goodies making waves.

Wyldheart is setting its sights on those of us who fondly remember the days of gathering around the table for a little Dungeons & Dragons. Polygon gives us a sneak peek at this upcoming co-op RPG that’s heavily inspired by the likes of Fable. It’s designed around shared campaigns and drop-in multiplayer, making it perfect for our erratic schedules and those unpredictable friend groups.

The game promises a blend of fantasy charm and tactical role-playing, which sounds like a match made in RPG heaven. If you’ve ever wanted to jump into a magical world with some buddies and not worry about that one friend who’s always late, Wyldheart might just be your next obsession. The bit about flexible group play is intriguing, allowing players to jump in and out without derailing the entire narrative.

While we’ve seen our fair share of Fable and D&D-inspired titles over the years, Wyldheart seems to be leaning into the nostalgia factor while offering mechanics that respect our adult schedules. If it can pull off the balance between a rich story and accessible co-op play, it might just become a staple in our gaming rotation. Now, let’s hope they nail the landing and don’t leave us yearning for more polish than a worn-out D20.

This Nightdive-remastered 3DO shooter shows why it took Halo to break PC gaming’s FPS hegemony

This Nightdive-remastered 3DO shooter shows why it took Halo to break PC gaming's FPS hegemony

Shifting gears, let’s talk about the classic 3DO shooter that helps explain why it took Halo to finally end PC’s first-person shooter monopoly. Before Master Chief crash-landed onto the scene, consoles were already making attempts to draw FPS fans away from their trusty keyboards and mice. We’re talking about titles like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark that hinted at a world where your couch could be the new battlefield.

PC Gamer points out some lesser-known titles like Turok and Powerslave (Exhumed for our UK friends), which took a stab at showing consoles could handle FPS games. And while these games were awesome in their own right, they didn’t quite rip gamers from the PC. It wasn’t until Halo: Combat Evolved came along, offering something truly unique with its story and multiplayer, that it finally challenged the status quo.

It’s easy to forget that before we were all dual-wielding Needlers, there was a time when a console shooter was a rare beast. But the groundwork was laid by these early titles. Still, let’s be real, it took a big green super-soldier to make the rest of us see a console as a serious FPS contender.

Call Of Duty Pro Gets Dropped From His Team After Unsolicited Sexts Leak: ‘Sorry I Have A Real Life’

Call Of Duty Pro Gets Dropped From His Team After Unsolicited Sexts Leak: ‘Sorry I Have A Real Life’
Source: Kotaku

Meanwhile, Call of Duty drama hit the fan this week as a pro player found himself kicked off his team. Kotaku reports that this unfortunate exit followed the leak of some unsolicited sexts he sent out. His defense? “Sorry I have a real life.” Because apparently, balancing gaming and sending unwelcome messages is just part of adulting now.

It’s a classic “how not to respond” scenario. Instead of owning up to his mistakes, he basically tried to defend his antics by saying he’s a real person with a real life. Sure, we all juggle work, gaming, and personal lives, but what’s not on everyone’s to-do list? Sending creepy messages. It’s like he missed the memo that being a pro gamer doesn’t mean you can ignore basic decency.

The games industry, summarized: you’re either in the headlines for dominating the leaderboard or mucking up your reputation. We’re all for real life experiences, but maybe focus on leveling up your in-game skills and keeping your DMs respectful. The esports scene can be ruthless, and this is just a reminder that actions, even off-screen, have consequences.

Crimson Desert patch now available, here’s what’s new

If you’re grinding through Crimson Desert like me, you’ll be happy to hear about Pearl Abyss’s latest patch. Eurogamer tells us we’ve got a Headgear Visibility option now, which means we can finally get a better look at Kliff’s lovely mug without sacrificing stats. But that’s not all. The private storage capacity has been expanded to a whopping 1000 slots. It depends on your Greymane camp’s expansion level, which means some of us might still need to schlepp our gear around.

On top of these new features, Pearl Abyss has sprinkled in a bunch of “fixes and improvements.” That’s as vague as it gets, but hey, they love to keep us guessing. I’m always game for quality-of-life improvements, even if it means reading through patch notes as if they’re a mystery novel. At least this patch gives us more room to hoard and the option to admire our protagonist’s face. I’d call that a win for those of us who appreciate aesthetics and organization in our virtual lives.

Until then, remember that it’s okay to set aside those grind-heavy games and just have fun. We all need a little magic in our lives, whether it’s from a digital world or tabletop session.
