Skipping Zelda Remaster on Switch 2? Major Nintendo Blunder

You know that feeling when your favorite childhood snack gets a “healthier” recipe? Sometimes, it’s best to leave perfection alone. Rumor has it that a Zelda: Ocarina of Time remaster could hit the Switch 2, and I don’t know about you, but my nostalgia alarm bells are ringing. Nintendo should tread carefully, messing with a classic is risky business. Let’s see what else is happening in the gaming world while we hold our collective breath. We’ve got a loaded roundup today, with stories you won’t want to miss.

A Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remaster On Switch 2 Would Be A Huge Missed Opportunity

GameSpot is stirring the pot with rumors of a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remaster for the Switch 2. Hard to believe it’s been almost 30 years since we first got lost in Hyrule on the N64. While a visual facelift sounds enticing, just slapping on a new coat of paint would miss a chance to redefine this classic for modern gamers.

Let’s face it, Z-targeting was mind-blowing in 1998, but in 2023, we’ve got dual-stick controls that make 3D navigation a breeze. Do we really need to spend ages learning how to lock on to enemies again? Let’s give Link some new moves, maybe even a jump button, gasp! Borrow some mechanics from Breath of the Wild, but keep the structure tight. Ocarina’s combat could use an update, too. Today’s players can handle chaos. Picture Link battling multiple foes at once, launching bombchus and firing ice arrows like a Zelda action movie.

Nintendo’s already given us a taste of Ocarina with a 3DS version back in 2011. Now’s the perfect time for a full reimagining. The Switch 2 can handle it, and we deserve a Hyrule adventure that feels as fresh now as it did back then. Just don’t get too crazy. Maintain the essence, reinvent the experience.

Mark your calendars for May 12th, because Call of the Elder Gods is dropping then. This sequel to the 2020 hit Call of the Sea promises more of the mind-bending puzzles and intriguing storytelling we’ve come to love. Publisher Kwalee and developer Out of the Blue are shipping this on a whole bunch of platforms: Nintendo Switch 2, PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, plus it’ll be on Game Pass. So, no excuses, folks.

For those of us who appreciated the original’s unique blend of mystery and exploration, this sequel has a lot to live up to. The move to include the latest hardware means we can expect some visual upgrades and hopefully smoother gameplay. I’m excited to see how they expand on the narrative universe they’ve built. Eurogamer tells us the game is set to dive deeper into the cosmic mythos hinted at in the original, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good Eldritch tale? Looks like our May gaming schedule just got a little more packed.

The Boys showrunner breaks down season 5’s first major death

“The Boys” is back with a bang in its fifth season, and boy, are those stakes high. Showrunner Eric Kripke, never one to shy away from a shocking moment, recently broke down the decision to kill off a major character right out of the gate. It’s a bold move, and in typical Kripke fashion, it’s all about keeping us on our toes.

In an interview with Polygon, Kripke shared how he used a new character to channel his nervousness and set the tone for the entire season. You know it’s going to be a wild ride when they’re offing significant players from the start. It’s a clear message that no one is safe, and that’s exactly the kind of tension we love about “The Boys”. Personally, I’m all for it. It’s refreshing to see a show that isn’t afraid to take risks and keep things unpredictable.

It seems like Kripke is ensuring that our eyes stay glued to the screen. After all, it’s this kind of storytelling that made us fall in love with “The Boys” in the first place. Let’s just hope the rest of the season lives up to this promising start.

Here’s a keycap that’s also a watch, for the discerning gamer

For the RPG fans who also appreciate a fine timepiece, here’s something you didn’t know you needed: a keycap that doubles as a watch. PC Gamer reports on the Miyo Watch Keycap. I’m honestly feeling a strange mix of “how did we get here” and “why didn’t I think of that?” It’s got the whole Miyota 5Y20 quartz movement for those keeping track of time and style, not to mention the dual-tone Super-LimuNova dial and hands glowing in the dark like it’s always midnight in your gaming cave.

On top of that, this thing’s got sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating, so no more squinting at your keyboard at weird angles. There’s even a little crown on the side. All packed into a 1U keycap, which is about the size of your standard letter key. I mean, it’s absurd. It’s brilliant. It’s everything we didn’t know we needed to blow money on this week in gaming. Do you need it? Probably not. Do you want it? Yeah, you probably do, if only to say you have one.
