First Impressions

So I got word of the pv trailer for this new upcoming otome 3D game from a mutual (moot). First impressions is that the pv is really cinematic, male leads reminds me of ball-joint dolls (Does anyone know the Taiwanese BJDs series named PiLi?)!

The storyline also seemed to be dark, which actually is refreshing, since I’m an old auntie who is up for any type of storyline, not just the fluffy ones. At this age, nothing surprises me anymore, so usually I’m pretty chill.

The Company Behind

My moot told me that it’s a game by Archosaur. Because I have not played any games from them, I did not know who they were. But very soon, I’ve caught up with who and where they are. Apparently they are the company who’s also behind big game names like Dragon Raja, and Live Makeover, which is a dress-up game which a lot of my moots had played before.

Live Makeover is also the competitor to Papergame’s Infinity Nikki. Archosaur (Zulong) is a pretty big gaming company in Mainland China. It’s nice to know that this game has a great backing. This game is also developed by Vvanna Studios.

The Tech Demo

There was another video on their official YouTube channel which features a demo on the technology used in the game. Being from a technical IT background, this really excites me and impresses and blows me away.

Silent Whispers boasts of using the tech of Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), which is the tech which was used in Wukong: Black Myth. I remember when Black Myth first hit the market and was winning many awards, I was truly intrigued. And also proud, having a Chinese ancestry, I thought it was finally time for China to shine in the gaming/media industry. Anime and gaming were traditionally started and big in Japan, then Korea.

So I went to find out a little bit more about UE5. Apparently, UE5 was featured in a “The Matrix” game 4 years ago. Back then people were already impressed as it looked like a real Hollywood movie. Some parts were still deemed to be too “stiff” but overall, the tech was already super impressive.

Back to Silent Whispers: what truly impressed me from this demo were the ‘human parts’, things like the anatomical-level muscle fiber modeling, the clothes material (that white silky shirt with a butterfly flapping its wings), adaptive pupil and iris response, perspiration, mark indentation, the light and shadow rendering of that plate of red and purple grapes, that breathtaking Mega Lights demo using the theme park and merry-go-round. So yes, I’m impressed by alot! And no, not by the love interest yet.

Game Structure

I’ve not played any games so far with a time-loop basis, but Silent Whispers seems to be moving in this direction, since in the game, you’ll have to do whatever it takes to get ‘reincarnated’.

Screenshot 2026 05 04 at 3.32.37 PM

I’m actually wondering if this is the direction for many other games now, since there is also rumours for Love and Deepspace (the game everyone thinks SW is the main competitor to) to be moving in this direction.

Art/Music

I must admit, one of the things in the pv trailer that kinda put me off was the OneRepublic song. I like the song on its own, but somehow it didn’t go well with me being in this pv. It made the game felt very cheesy, but maybe the target audience is more western for this game?

The actual song which was on their website and used in their tech demo video was wonderful to me. Since the game actually had Blade Runner direction from the movies, the setting and environment should be a metropolis, futuristic. And the original song, which sounded much more ethereal, vogue-ish fits the theme to a T. I liked it so much, that I actually kept the website on just to listen to it daily.

I’m excited about the art direction, since I’m a sucker for futuristic, sci-fi backgrounds like Blade Runner and Tron. I hope it certainly brings across the point of being futuristic as it does now. I’m an avid player on Love and Deepspace too, but sometimes the futuristic part of the game doesn’t come across to me much. This is a conversation for another day.

Love Interests

Ok, we’ve come to the part which everyone is super excited about. The male love interests. There are three: Alarik, Theron, Valen.

  • Alarik. First impression of Alarik is that he definitely reminds me so much of Sylus. The white hair, the wings, the standing above all pose at the beginning of the pv. And since he is a pinnacle of power, that really aligns with Sylus of course.

  • Theron. Then there is Theron, the dark-skinned muscular wolfman. Of all the love interests, there was crazy affections for this one on my social media, because a darker-skinned love interest is super rare in a female-oriented game. Maybe other otome game developers can take a leaf out of this and learn that diversity is a nice add-on to such games. Personally, Theron is like a mix of Zayne and Caleb to me.

  • Valen. And last but not least, Valen, the ‘softer’, more emotional love interest. Nice pink hair with powers of ice. His dress-style also reminds me of Rafayel. The light coloured hair and blue eyes reminds me Xavier. And some moots felt Valen brought across some Caleb too.

Voice Overs

The game comes in 3 types of voice overs:

  • Chinese
  • Japanese and
  • English
Screenshot 2026 05 04 at 3.40.16 PM

I’m excited to learn that Chinese seems to be the ‘default’ voice over. And I might play this game eventually in Chinese after some introduction in English just to make things easier.

All voice overs in all three languages seems good, depends on the kind of energy you like. Japanese is a very safe bet, if you’re a anime/manga kinda girl, then you will be very at ease with Japanese voice-acting.

Summary

Project Silent Whispers definitely brings a lot of excitement to the female-oriented otome game market. Everything about the game seems to be wonderful at this point in time. And the game has already chalked up 1.5 million pre-registrations within a week.

Can it continue to live up to its hype? Here’s the link to it’s website if you would like to pre-register for it: https://whispers.archosaur.com/

It seems this game will be launched in 2027 only. That is another 7 months’ wait since it is 4 May 2026 today.
