For two and a half years, every Palworld player has made the same annoying trade: give up a party slot to a Galeclaw or Jetragon just to get around the map, or walk everywhere like a caveman. Five Pal slots, and one of them permanently taxed by transportation.
The Wing Pack kills that trade-off dead. It’s the best quality-of-life addition in the entire 1.0 update, and this guide covers exactly how to get one.

What the Wing Pack Actually Is
The Wing Pack is equipment, not a Pal. It sits in a gear slot, which means gliding no longer costs you a member of your combat team. That’s a full 20% of your party back.
Even better: you can fight during flight. Fire your weapons, throw Pal Spheres, use the Grappling Gun, all mid-glide. Catching a rare Pal from the air feels genuinely broken in the best way.
It matters for more than convenience. The new Sunreach region floats above Palpagos and is built around aerial traversal, and the Wing Pack was designed as your ticket into that vertical layer. This is a structural piece of the 1.0 endgame, not a gadget.
How to Unlock the Wing Pack
Here’s the headline requirement: the Wing Pack sits at Technology Level 80, the very top of the new tech tree. Level 80 is also 1.0’s new player level cap, raised from 65. Pocketpair put the best traversal item in the game at the summit of progression, and honestly, it earns the spot.
The good news for planners: you can read any locked recipe on the Technology screen long before you reach it, so you can start stockpiling materials well ahead of 80.

The Realistic Path to Level 80
If you’re starting fresh (Pocketpair’s recommendation), 80 is a journey. The efficient route: chase the reworked main missions for structured XP, grab every Watchtower you pass since each one is a fast travel point and map reveal, and clear tower bosses for Ancient Technology Points along the way. The rebalanced progression in 1.0 is noticeably smoother than the Early Access grind.
Old-save players: your level 60+ character has a massive head start, and with the cap raised from 65 to 80, those last levels are your main gate.
Wing Pack vs. Flying Pals: Which Should You Use?
It is such a game changer and the game feels totally different with it. You no longer need to have a Jetragon in your party (but honestly, why wouldn’t you) but the flight looks and feels so cool.
You’ll need a bunch of late game materials, but it is well worth it. It even has some unique sound effects as you glide through the air.
The early verdict: for combat mobility and party flexibility, the Wing Pack wins by default since it costs zero party slots.
Is It Worth Rushing?
With its own fuel source, it’ll be a bit more expensive to use vs the traditional travel options, and I definitely recommend rushing this item once you have access to the materials. You’ll need many production items built, but you would have had those anyways from playing the game.
