Welcome to TAG Roundup!
What better way to cap off 100 rounds of the roundup than with the announcement of an open-world Pokemon game? Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the officially licensed Pokemon game that millions of fans have been looking for. It’ll hit the Nintendo Switch early next year.
If you want even more gaming news, check out our entire TAG Roundup series! The last post showed off a game that combines mech warrior with base building and fast-paced combat!
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an Open-World RPG to Look Out For – The Verge
Pokemon is one of the largest franchises of all time. It has had TV shows, movies, card games, video games, cosplay, and one of the most dominant mobile games of the last decade. Simply put, Pokemon has cemented its place in pop culture for centuries to come.
Many people have seen the success of Pokemon and tried to replicate it. Temtem recently captured hearts with its take on open world monster hunting. Reviews were mostly positive, but we still missed seeing the original pocket monsters in their element.
That wait will have soon all been worth it!
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is slated for a January 28, 2022 launch on the Nintendo Switch. After years of anticipation, you’ll be able to roam the Sinnoh region in glorious Breath of the Wild-esque adventure mode!
Players will creep up on unsuspecting Pokemon, engage in tense battles, and interact with the titular Pokemon in this story-driven journey. We don’t know all that much about the game, but it’s confirmed that the classic turn-based attacks will still be included.
This format is a welcomed deviation from the classic formula. Instead of progressing along a linear adventure, players will have more freedom to explore and advance on their own terms.Â
We see some familiar faces from the starting lineup of available Pokemon – Cyndaquil, Oshawatt, and Rowlet will be options for your starters. These three Pokemon span across three generations of games while providing some nice variety in their move sets!
The official site makes reference to surveying and researching Pokemon. This gives me Pokemon Snap vibes, and I’m curious to see what new game mechanics they introduce here.
You can add Pokemon Legends: Arceus to your wishlist on the Nintendo site now to keep updated on new developments.
