Today’s Gaming News Roundup

Hey gamers! We’ve got some absolutely epic news to share with you today! From jaw-dropping announcements about GTA 6 to game-changing updates for Dark Souls, today’s gaming landscape is more exciting than ever. Let’s dive into what’s got everyone buzzing!

GTA 6 publisher Take-Two still expects record revenue this year despite shock delay

Publisher Take-Two fully supports Rockstar Games following its decision to delay GTA 6 into next year. However, just this afternoon, the developer announced it was delaying the release until May 26, 2026. “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is no exception.

Now, Take-Two’s head Strauss Zelnick has responded to the delay, stating the company supports “fully Rockstar Games taking additional time to realise their creative vision”. He added that on its release, GTA 6 will be “a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations”. Said Zelnick: “While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for 6, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. In a press release, Take-Two said the expectation is that “the company will achieve sequential increases in, and record levels of, net bookings in fiscal 2026 and 2027”.

If you HAVE to upgrade your GPU today, these are the five graphics cards I think are worth looking at

Just in case your old GPU randomly decided to set itself on fire, here are a few options to consider in this dire market. Following the 2021 GPU shortage (spurred by crypto miners, scalpers, and bots), we were in the clear, with cards lining the shelves and prices that didn’t make us cry. I know that last-gen cards aren’t particularly exciting anymore, especially when we’re all drooling over the RTX 5090 (which apparently can’t run Oblivion Remastered at a steady 60 fps).

But I didn’t promise you excitement; I promised you GPUs at prices you’d be able to stomach. That’s why the RTX 4060 is at the top of the list. With upscaling and DLSS 3, you’ll still run most games at high settings at 1080p.

In this RTX 4060 review, you’ll find that the card can comfortably maintain 60 fps in most games even if you drive the settings all the way up to max. It didn’t break any records when it first launched, but it offered top-notch value for the money. This holds even now, when it costs $590 on Amazon.

Mod adds Dark Souls-style player messages to Oblivion Remastered so you can write ‘Try finger but hole’ in front of Patrick Stewart

The thing that makes FromSoftware games great isn’t the tightly honed boss fights, the layered lore, or the quiet tragedy of their antagonists. It’s the ability to write ‘Don’t give up skeleton’ and ‘Try finger but hole’ across every inch of the game and subject players around the world to it.

Every game should have that, and now, thanks to enterprising modders, we’re one step closer to a world where that’s true. Ghosts of Tamriel is a mod for Oblivion Remastered (via VG247) that lets you leave little messages for your fellow Heroes of Kvatch, Dark Souls style. Messages have a 24-hour lifespan before they vanish forever, but that resets whenever they get an upvote.

The mod requires an internet connection, of course. It will show your character’s name in addition to the messages you leave. Apart from that, it’s all gloriously anonymous in a very old-internet sort of way, which is appropriate for a remaster of a game from ’06. “None of the data sent to the server is logged,” say the authors, “it only exists in memory for the lifetime of the message, after that it disappears forever.”

I feel like I can finally say we’re at a point where buying new PC gaming gear doesn’t mean settling for less

Poor quality products haven’t disappeared, but gaming going mainstream has raised all boats. Jacob Fox, a hardware writer, spent hours emptying the office to make room to build a new desk. After gaming on S, the next day, he returned to my desk for work and started typing away on the Keychron Q5 HE.

He contrasted this with when he first started PC gaming almost 20 years ago. He remembered picking up the first Razer BlackWidow keyboard in 2010 or 2011, and was so impressed with it, mainly because mechanical keyboards weren’t so common back then, and it was his first go with one. When he met with some SteelSeries reps last year, they were keen to impress upon him that the company’s peripherals (or at least its Apex Pro Gen 3 TKL keyboard) are designed on the back of the recognition that people aren’t just sitting at home gaming nowadays.

There’s another Pathfinder 2e bundle on Humble with nearly $700 of books for $57, including an adventure that’ll let you go full Mortal Kombat with your friends

Paizo continues to offer some absolutely bonkers value for its Pathfinder 2nd Edition, once more putting a whole heap of its books on offer for a good cause. Still, it’s an exceptional bang for your buck, thinning down around $700 (£517) of books to $57 (£44):

  • The PF2e beginner’s box, premade characters, and GM screen.
  • All the core remastered rulebooks, including the PF2e Player Core as a hardcover and PDF, and the PF2e Monster and GM Core rulebooks.
  • Three whole PF2e bestiaries, supplementary monster books like Lost Omens: Monsters of Myth.
  • Several scenarios, which are smaller-scale campaigns that’ll see your players level up 3-4 times a pop.
  • The star of the show here, though, is the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix adventure path, a campaign that’ll take you from level 11 to 18.

Blades Of Fire Feels Like A Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Spiritual Successor | New Gameplay Today

MercurySteam is most recently known as the developer behind Metroid Dread. But it is arguably more famous for developing the acclaimed 2010 game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which it created for Konami (with help from Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions).

Its new game, Blades of Fire, which releases on May 22, is not a sequel to Lords of Shadow. It is an original game and universe, but it feels reminiscent in intriguing ways. Join Game Informer’s Kyle Hilliard and Marcus Stewart as they check out gameplay, take on a boss, and discuss the unique layout for the game’s combat.

Here’s Where the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Is Up for Preorder Right Now

Have you won the battle to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 preorder? It’s currently orderable via Target, Walmart, Gamestop, and Best Buy for $84.99 with a release date of June 5.

Just like the Switch 2 console itself, we expect this item to become much harder to find and possibly more expensive if tariffs go back up, so this may very well be the best opportunity to secure one. It’s important to note that the original Switch Pro controller is, for the most part, still compatible with the new Switch 2. However, this new controller brings a host of improvements to the table, including:

  • Updated HD Rumble 2 (haptic) vibration
  • A new “C” button for GameChat (new to Switch 2)
  • New rear mappable GL and GR buttons
  • Up to 50% faster charging speed
  • A headphone jack

The only disadvantage is that the Pro controller is not backward compatible with the original Switch console. However, if you prefer a gamepad-style controller over the Joy-Con for the Switch 2, you can only order the Pro controller, which matches the Switch 2’s ergonomics and functionality.

The Best Budget TV Deal: Walmart Has a 75″ Samsung 4K Smart TV for Just $399

Walmart is currently offering the lowest price I’ve seen this year for a 75″ Samsung 4K smart TV. Right now you can pick up DU7200B Crystal 4K smart TV for only $399 shipped (you’ll see the price when you add the TV to your cart).

It’s sold and shipped by Walmart direct, not a marketplace vendor, so it comes with a 1-year Samsung warranty. The Samsung DU7200B is a no-frills TV with a native 4K resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and Samsung’s Tizen smart interface. The DU7200B is labelled as a “Crystal 4K TV,” which means that it boasts a wider spectrum of colours via Dynamic Crystal Color technology that adds more contrast to the images, according to Samsung.

I’ve never used a more versatile handheld than the Retroid Flip 2

When it comes to handheld gaming, you could drown in the number of options to choose from. One of the best options on that front is the Retroid Pocket 5, but even that critically acclaimed device has some drawbacks. Well, Retroid is back and seems to have tackled some of those issues with the Retroid Flip 2.

The Retroid Flip 2’s internals, screen, and buttons are identical to the much-loved Pocket 5. The design hearkens back to the Nintendo DS, and like that device, there’s no real need for a separate protective case for the Flip 2. Because the entire lower half of the device is dedicated to housing the Flip 2’s buttons and sticks, there’s way more room to make everything more ergonomically reachable than on the Pocket 5.

Most smaller handhelds usually excel at either analog or D-pad gaming, but the Flip 2 is the first smaller device.

The Flagship Alienware Area-51 Gaming Laptops Are Discounted for the First Time

Alienware’s new flagship gaming laptop – the Alienware Area-51 – was released earlier this year. For the first time ever both the 16″ model and 18″ model, equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and powerful GeForce RTX 5080 graphics, are on sale right now.

The main difference between the two Area-51 gaming laptops is the screens; one’s equipped with a 16″ 2560X1600 240Hz IPS display and the other has an 18″ 2560×100 300Hz IPS display. The 18″ model is physically larger, it also has a dedicated numpad and better cooling. Both discounted configurations feature an NVIDIA GPU, 64GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB SSD.

The 64GB of RAM is the main upgrade here since normally these laptops are usually equpped with 32GB at this price point.
