Do you remember Gex? The 90s Gecko is making a return! Let’s check out the details on the upcoming game and more of yesterday’s gaming news!
Gex Trilogy gets a release date and a physical edition featuring a 36-inch inflatable

If you’ve been hankering for a lizard-scented blast of nostalgia, you’re in luck; Crystal Dynamics’ cult-classic 90s platformer Gex and its two sequels are being bundled up for a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC release on 16th June. The Gex Trilogy, you might recall, was announced earlier this year, and gathers together the series’ original 1995 outing – 2D PS1 platformer Gex – alongside its two 3D sequels, Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko, which launched in 1998 and 1999, respectively. The Gex Trilogy will initially be available as a digital release on PlayStation 5. However, Limited Run is also planning to give the bundle a physical release later for those wanting to hold Gex’s heft in their hands.
There’s a $39.99 USD Standard Edition, which contains either a disc or a cartridge depending on your platform of choice (the PC version contains a Steam key), plus a $74.99 Classic Edition that also includes a Steelbook, reversible poster, soundtrack selection CD, and a “retro box” resembling a PS1 game. If you really want to go all-out in a fury of nostalgia, however, there’s also a $199.99 Tail Time Edition, which is available from May 9 to July 6. This includes everything in the Classic Edition (and upgrades the CD to a full soundtrack), then throws in a 7-inch Gex statue, trading cards, a Remote Pin, and a special box featuring artwork from Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano.
Oh, and there’s a 36-inch inflatable Gex to do with as you please.
Eric Barone, the guy who can’t stop updating Stardew Valley, says the words “I might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2”

Did you know that Stardew Valley is the 21st best-selling game ever? Barone recently appeared on the podcast Tiger Belly (thanks, GamesRadar), where host Bobby Lee asked why he doesn’t just make a Stardew Valley 2 when he’s constantly releasing new updates.
And then came the comment that struck fear into my heart: “I might eventually 2, to be honest.” However, Barone also said that while he won’t deny the possibility of 2, he doesn’t “want to just be the Stardew Valley guy, that’s why I’m making Haunted Chocolatier.”

Outer Wilds studio finally confirms it’s working on a new game but says it will be ‘years’ before it’s ready to share details

Word of Mobius Digital’s new project arrived in a throwaway comment in the patch notes for the final Outer Wilds update. Six years after the release of the most excellent sci-fi camping game Outer Wilds, developer Mobius Digital is working on something new, a fact it let slip in a recently-released update—which is also the final “major update” planned for the game.0. Instead, there was an off-the-cuff comment in the Outer Wilds’ patch 16 changelog.
“This is a minor patch mainly for adding a couple folks to the credits and fixing two PC-only bugs: clicking out of the game disabling certain inputs (such as the key for the ship’s lock on), which affected streamers in particular, and diagonal movement being faster than normal with mouse and keyboard,” the studio wrote, explaining that the patch would launch on Steam first and follow for other platforms later in May. “Why stagger the releases like this? This is no shade to our QA testers, we’re just trying to be extra risk-averse and conservative with the resources we put toward Outer Wilds since our new game is our priority!”
THPS 3+4 Devs Explain Why They Removed 4’s OG Career Mode

In new interviews, the devs behind Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 have explained why the popular career mode from the original THPS4 isn’t going to be included in the upcoming remake. THPS 3+4 is set to launch in July on consoles and PC, boasting improved visuals, quality-of-life features, and new levels.
However, the open world and the NPC quest givers found in THPS4’s original career mode won’t be included. Speaking to Game Informer, THPS 3+4 design director Mike Rossi said that the team looked at THPS 1+2 and thought it was a good representation of the essence of those OG games. So they looked back at 3 and 4 before developing this new remake.
The mod that aimed to recreate Counter-Strike 1.6 in CS:GO is now officially cancelled following ‘abrupt actions by Valve that prevent us from releasing’ the project

A last-ditch effort to resurrect Classic Offensive in March has come to naught. “After eight years of development, and despite being officially Greenlit by Valve in 2017, we are devastated to announce the cancellation of Classic Offensive,” the development team wrote in a message posted to Reddit. “This decision follows abrupt actions by Valve that prevent us from releasing or continuing development on the project.”
Initial work on Classic Offensive, an effort to recreate the classic Counter-Strike 1.6 experience in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, began way back in 2015. All seemed well until January 2025, when the team announced that Valve had “retired” the mod—removed it from Steam, basically—without warning or explanation. Following that, the Classic Offensive team decided to release the mod via ModDB instead, which apparently prompted Valve to reach out in March 2025.
The simple fact that the two sides were talking seemed like a good sign, but it went nowhere. Valve informed the team that “releasing Classic Offensive would be distributing ‘derivative content’ based on [Valve’s] intellectual property, which is not permitted under the Steam Agreement.”
Hideo Kojima says Death Stranding 2 has so much tactical espionage action that even his own staff ‘worried it was getting a little Metal Gear-ish’

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is due for release on PlayStation 5 in June, and let’s hope it doesn’t take eight months to come to PC this time.
The release of a 10-minute-long trailer (yes, really) in March made links overt, with new character Neil giving us a new version of Snake’s bandana-tying, and a mech unmistakably reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. For 2, we made it a little easier to use weapons and aim at specific parts using a POV angle, as many players were already aware of stealth games. “We did [a day/night cycle] in 5: The Phantom Pain as well, but I wanted to properly include the passage of time in an open world,” says Kojima.
5 had a system where you could smoke to advance time. This game does it in more natural ways, like going back to bed in a private room after waking up once.” I don’t think you could get more natural than the Phantom Cigar, which always made me smile thanks to its “woooah-oooh” music and fast-forward effects, but good to know anyway that we’ll have some control over when we do things in Death Stranding 2.
Mafia: The Old Country – Release Date, Trailer, $50 Price, Smaller Time Commitment, And Everything Else We Know

2K’s Mafia franchise returns this August with Mafia: The Old Country. The game is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In a significant shift from other AAA games, it’s priced not at $70 or $80, but $50. It’s the first new Mafia game since 2016’s Mafia III, and it comes from the same studio, Hangar 13.
Now, 2K says he’s “ready to risk everything to become a man of honor in the Torrisi crime family.” The game will play like a “classic mob movie,” 2K says, and this means players will encounter the criminal underworld and everything that entails. “Enzo’s story unfolds in a time when skill with a stiletto blade was a deadly asset, a lupara sawed-off shotgun was a go-to firearm, murderous vendettas raged for decades, and mafiosi patrolled their protection rackets on foot, horseback, or behind the wheel of turn-of-the-century motorcars,” 2K said.
2K has said it believes there is a “large audience for compelling stories that don’t require massive time commitments.”
Titan Quest 2 Early Access Will Begin This Summer

Titan Quest 2 will launch in early access this summer, a delay from its original release window, developer Grimoire Games has announced. The nearly two-decade-later ARPG sequel was initially slated to release months ago in late 2024 or early 2025.
For context, Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion launched in October 2024, and Path of Exile 2 launched just a few months later in December. Like its 2006 predecessor, the game drops players into ancient Greece to battle against mythological foes like Gryphons, Harpies, and Centaurs. This time, you’re on a quest to stop the goddess Nemesis from corrupting the Threads of Fate and condemning all who oppose her.
One of Samsung’s Best 55″ 4K OLED TVs Just Dropped to a New Price Low

Amazon is offering the 55″ Samsung S90D 4K OLED Smart TV for $977.99 shipped. This is an excellent TV for your PS5 or Xbox Series X.
According to RTINGS, the Samsung S90D is a brighter TV than the popular LG C4 OLED TV with a wider color gamut, better color volume, wider viewing angle, and better HDR gradient handling.
This is an especially good complement to the recently released Playstation 5 Pro console since it can drive more games in quality mode (native 4K @ 120fps) than the standard PS5, which often needs to be set to performance mode (upscaled 4K).
Howl’s Moving Castle Novel Gets Budget-Friendly Deluxe Limited Edition

If you love Studio Ghibli’s animated hit but haven’t read the source material, a beautiful new Deluxe Limited Edition hardcover of Diana Wynne Jones’ original novel is available to pre-order at Amazon. Originally published in 1986, the story is much different than the 2004 film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and serves as the first book in a trilogy. The $25 list price is lower than many standard hardcover fiction releases.
Sophie’s journey sees her meet up with the charming Howl, who is tormented by dark secrets from his past, strike a deal with a fire demon, and confront the wicked witch responsible for her condition. As mentioned, the 2004 Studio Ghibli film deviated quite a bit from the book, as it featured a different aesthetic. Certain characters stuck around for much longer. Additionally, the dynamic between Sophie and Howl plays out in an unconventional way.
Europa Universalis 5 Is Unabashedly Hardcore

Paradox Interactive has finally confirmed that its Tinto studio’s Project Caesar, which it had been teasing through a series of dev diary posts on its forum, is Europa Universalis V. As the first new entry in this series in nearly 12 years and one releasing in a very different landscape for strategy games, questions arise about what will, or should, change. Paradox Interactive has finally confirmed that its Tinto studio’s Project Caesar, which it had been teasing through a series of dev diary posts on its forum, is Europa Universalis V.
When asked why players should upgrade, game director Johan Andersson said he believes it has “more mechanics” and “more content” than its predecessor, making the upgrade worthwhile. Some of these gameplay evolutions are influenced by other Paradox grand strategy games, such as Victoria 3. Andersson outright called it “the most grand game we’ve ever made.”
Quake, GoldenEye, and Tamagotchi inducted into World Video Game Hall of Fame

Four more video games have been inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame, the Strong National Museum of Play announced Thursday: Williams Electronics’ Defender, Rare’s GoldenEye 007, id Software’s Quake, and Bandai’s Tamagotchi. Defender, said Jeremy Saucier, assistant vice president for interpretation and electronic games, was “among the first games to truly separate dedicated players from more casual ones” and challenged “conventional wisdom about game mastery and the idea that players would reject more complex arcade video games.” GoldenEye 007 was hailed as “the premier example of a first-person shooter to succeed on a console” and “is still considered one of the best multiplayer experiences ever produced on a Nintendo system,” said Andrew Borman, director of digital preservation. Quake was lauded for “its influence in how online games are played, its active modding community, and its creation and shaping of esports.” Lindsey Kurano, electronic games curator, noted that portions of Quake’s code “continues to be present in modern games, decades after release.”
The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Graphics Card with 16GB of VRAM Is Available From $490 on Amazon

This is a great budget card for 1080p gaming, but don’t confuse the 16GB model with the 8GB one. If you’re looking for a budget Blackwell graphics card for 1080p gaming, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is as good as it gets. Just make sure to get the 16 GB variant, not the 8GB.
Right now Amazon and Walmart have 16GB GPUs starting at $489.99. That’s still higher than the launch price of $429.99 for a reference model, but the price markup isn’t nearly as egregious as the other RTX 50 series cards.
Review by Jacqueline Thomas “The is a solid little 1080p graphics card, even compared to its last-generation counterpart. It is a shame that both the 8GB and 16GB version share the same name, because it’s going to make shopping for a 1080p graphics card all the more confusing.”
