A Closer Look at Darktide’s Intricate Progression Mechanics Compared to its Miniatures Game Counterpart

Source: PC Gamer – March 30, 2025

The progression mechanics in Darktide are more complex than might be anticipated, especially when compared to its miniatures game counterpart. For example, Ordo dockets and Ordo ingots, despite their similar names, serve different functions in the game. Ordo dockets are earned by completing missions and are used in conjunction with two crafting resources, plasteel and diamantine. These three resources are required to upgrade your gear at the Shrine of the Omnissiah, a service provided by the tech-priest, Hadron Omega-7-7. In addition, Ordo dockets are needed to purchase new basic gear from Peddler 138/143, who operates the Armory Exchange.

On the other hand, Ordo ingots can only be obtained by completing weekly challenges. These ingots are spent on special gear at Sire Melk’s Requisitorium. Sister Hestia Prine oversees another set of challenges known as penances. The penance points you earn from these challenges can be redeemed for cosmetic items at the Shrine Penitentax.

Rest Easy, Ultramarines: Space Marine 3’s Arrival Doesn’t Spell the End for Space Marine 2’s Support

Source: PC Gamer – March 29, 2025

The launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has officially been confirmed. Given the success of Space Marine 2, which boasted sales exceeding the number of Tyranids on Kadaku, this announcement was hardly surprising. However, instead of sparking excitement among the fan base, the news has been met with concern. Many fans fear that the introduction of the new game will detract from Saber Interactive’s commitment to supporting Space Marine 2. This game, which features a Left4Dead-style cooperative Operations mode and a competitive multiplayer called Eternal War, has been regularly updated with new content since its release last October. Despite this, fans worry that the advent of Space Marine 3 may lead to a decline in such support.

ArmA Reforger’s ‘Game-Changing’ Update Introduces Attack Helicopters, Mortars, and Destructible Buildings: ‘No Place on the Battlefield is Safe Anymore’

Source: PC Gamer – March 29, 2025

ArmA Reforger, a multiplayer-centric military roleplaying platform, has made considerable progress since its underwhelming launch in 2022. Initially perceived as a repackaged version of ArmA 3’s Zeus in Bohemia’s new engine and a testing ground for ArmA 4, it received a lukewarm reception upon release from Steam Early Access. The community even accused Bohemia of neglecting the game. However, Bohemia Interactive has proven these accusations wrong with the latest game-transforming update.

This significant 1.3 update expands the scope of Bohemia’s latest military simulator by incorporating several new features. Introducing attack helicopters, mortars, and destructible buildings has revolutionized the game and redefined safety zones within the battlefield.

Nintendo Is Streamlining the Transition to Switch 2 for All Users

Source: IGN – March 30, 2025

Ever since Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2, anticipation has been building for the forthcoming April Direct. This event is expected to disclose the official release date, price, and confirmed games for the Switch 2. In a surprising twist, Nintendo unveiled another Direct just a week prior, featuring major titles such as Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. This development isn’t entirely unexpected given Nintendo’s commitment to backward compatibility. Before this week’s Direct, however, Nintendo was cautious to manage expectations by stating, “There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during the presentation.” While the Switch 2 wasn’t explicitly mentioned, apart from a brief note about the upcoming Direct and the introduction of a new Virtual Game Card sharing system, it’s reasonable to infer that all the showcased games will be playable on the Switch 2, even though they were officially announced for the original Switch.

Our journey into Quamtotius Purgamentum starts with the tried and true Thief mission trope. Our protagonist, Garrett, plummets down an enormous hole, his screams echoing as he descends. He lands within a colossal blue cube and is instantly confronted by half a dozen guards. Some of them whirl in the air like helicopter rotors, adding a surreal twist to the encounter. Garrett’s only salvation is to scramble through one of four square openings in the cube. These lead to a labyrinth of twisting corridors bathed in Thief’s signature magenta glow. One room hosts a zombie-slaying showdown, orchestrated by Garrett’s nefarious twin brother, Barratt. Another room features five bottles suspended in midair, accompanied by a cryptic text on the wall that simply states “art”.

‘Blades of Fire’ Gameplay: Could It Be Overly Inspired by God of War?

Source: PC Gamer – March 30, 2025

Earlier this month, the Spanish studio, MercurySteam, revealed its new action RPG, Blades of Fire. The studio has confirmed that this game is a spiritual successor to Severance: Blade of Darkness. After viewing the debut gameplay showcase for Blades of Fire, I started to wonder if the game might be leaning too heavily on its God of War inspiration. The showcase presents an unedited, five-minute clip of Blades of Fire gameplay, featuring the protagonist, Aran de Lira, exploring a floral woodland before engaging in combat with goblin-like creatures and shambling undead.
