Revitalizing a Classic: The Latest Pac-Man Game Features Mechs, Airdashing, and a ‘Dark Sci-Fi’ Storyline
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
The latest trailer for Shadow Labyrinth, unveiled during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, might give you the impression of a simple sidescroller set in a sci-fi world confronted by alien monsters and steeped in tragedy. Indeed, it encompasses all these elements, but surprisingly, it’s also a Pac-Man game. The connection becomes evident through the protagonist’s yellow, spherical sidekick named Puck, who moves around devouring pellets. This unique world was first introduced in the Pac-Man-centric episode of Amazon’s Secret Level anthology series. The showrunners, inspired by a conversation with Bandai Namco, were encouraged to push the boundaries, leading audiences to question, “what have they done to Pac-Man?”

Sea of Thieves Incorporates Destiny 2 Elements in New Collaboration with Bungie
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
Rare’s live service pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves, a standout among Microsoft’s Game Pass offerings, has unveiled a novel collaboration with Destiny 2, developed by Bungie. The partnership is somewhat intriguing for Bungie, which had been acquired by Microsoft in 2000, gained prominence with the Xbox-exclusive Halo games, declared its independence in 2007, and was subsequently acquired by Sony in 2022. The Lightbearer cosmetics set introduces a plethora of Destiny-themed items to the adventurous seascape. Players can now brandish new ship flags, liveries, costumes such as the Drifter’s outfit, and gun skins. There’s even an option to display one of Destiny’s ghosts (those chatty miniature hoverbots) off the bow of your ship.

Ex-Bethesda Developer Turns Indie, Citing Fallout 76’s Harsh Reception
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
Fallout 76’s journey toward redemption in recent years is a notable one. However, those who recall its initial release will remember a game that, despite having potential, was plagued by controversies and serious issues. The public reaction was less than favorable. Jeff Gardiner, the project lead, faced public criticism, and Todd Howard later acknowledged in a Wired interview that the team had indeed struggled to meet player expectations.
Such a hostile response partly motivated Nate Purkeypile, a former Bethesda artist with a 14-year tenure, to leave triple-A development and become a solo developer. During a recent GDC talk, he shared that his decision to leave the mainstream gaming industry was significantly influenced by Fallout 76’s negative reception.

An ’80s Apple Macintosh Replica: The Flip-Screen Mini PC Packed with Features
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
While Mini PCs lacking a dedicated GPU will never be gaming powerhouses, they still possess a unique charm with their compact size and full PC functionality. The allure amplifies when you add a flip-up touchscreen, CNC-alloy construction, and a touch of retro aesthetic. The Retro Mini PC AM01S, the latest compact marvel from Ayaneo, is a perfect example. Housed in a 1L case, this device follows its predecessor, the Retro Mini PC AM01 — minus the ‘S’ suffix — closely, albeit with a critical difference.

Silksong Fans Left Hanging Again After Latest Nintendo Direct
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
For many, the much-anticipated game Silksong has evolved from a mere upcoming release into an elusive goal. The cycle of anticipation, hope, disappointment, and desolation experienced by its prospective player base seems to be more captivating than the gameplay could ever be. If you’re unfamiliar with the saga, Silksong was first announced back in 2019. Fast forward to 2025, and fans are still waiting with bated breath. The continual delay has been a source of frustration among its eager players, as Team Cherry, the developer, has provided little more than tantalizing trailers and vague promises that the game indeed continues to be in development.

Get Ready for a Dreamy July with ‘No Sleep For Kaname Date’: AI: The Somnium Files Returns
Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
The recent Nintendo Direct was brimming with exciting announcements for PC enthusiasts. Highlights included the surprise release of the Saga Frontier 2 remaster, a reimagining of the beloved PS2-era Shin Megami Tensei spinoff, and the revelation of a new Super Robot Wars game, set to be released in English on PC. However, a particular announcement caught my attention: ‘No Sleep For Kaname Date’, the latest installment in the dream-dive detective mystery series, AI: The Somnium Files. Slated for release in July and confirmed for Steam, it appears the slightly off-kilter dream-detective Kaname Date, who was absent for most of the second game, is returning to his familiar haunts.

Every time Fortnite introduces a character derived from my personal obsessions, my friends tease, “Ken will have to start playing Fortnite now.” Despite their repeated predictions, Epic Games hasn’t yet released a character that’s tempted me enough to download their pop culture-infused battle royale game. However, I might be on the brink of surrendering, as there are indications that pop star Sabrina Carpenter will soon be joining the Fortnite roster. As an avid fan who played her chart-topping hit “Espresso” 1500 times last year, wouldn’t it be my obligation to support my favorite artist? – Kenneth Shepard

The Dark Mod Transforms Guard AI After 16 Years: ‘The days of seeing knocked-out AI in the middle of a bright spotlight get ignored are over’
Source: PC Gamer – March 29, 2025
For years, The Dark Mod has admirably filled the void left by the absence of a worthy successor in the Thief series. Despite a reboot in 2014, which some found enjoyable, it failed to uphold the series’ esteemed reputation. Initially launched in 2009 as a complete overhaul for Doom 3, The Dark Mod was later reimagined as an independent game in 2013 and has since received regular updates. The most recent update, released last Thursday, introduces notable changes and is one of the most substantial updates the game has seen in some time.

Ultramarines, Fear Not! The Launch of Space Marine 3 Doesn’t Signal the End of Support for Space Marine 2: ‘Undiscovered Surprises Await’
Source: PC Gamer – March 29, 2025
The launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 is officially on the horizon. Considering the massive success of Space Marine 2, which sold more copies than the number of Tyranids on Kadaku, this announcement should be a cause for celebration among fans. However, it appears that some community members have met the news with anxiety rather than delight. Primarily, their concern revolves around the possibility of Saber Interactive shifting their focus from supporting Space Marine 2 to the upcoming game. Space Marine 2 is renowned for its campaign, its cooperative Operations mode reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, and its competitive multiplayer mode, Eternal War. Since its debut in October, all these modes have been enriched with new content. Despite these updates, the community worries that the launch of Space Marine 3 may lead to a decrease in support for the preceding game.
