Source: PC Gamer – March 28, 2025
SaGa Frontier 2 didn’t exactly take the western market by storm when it was originally released for PlayStation in 2000. However, the passage of time has been kind to this title. Unlike its contemporaries, SaGa Frontier 2 resisted the move towards 3D graphics, instead opting for beautifully hand-drawn backgrounds and vibrant sprite work. This unique art style has arguably aged better than many of its counterparts, such as Final Fantasy 7. Until its recent release on Steam, the only way to play SaGa Frontier 2 on PC was through emulation.

Source: PC Gamer, March 27, 2025
When ‘Path of Exile’ first emerged in the Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG) genre, it was a breath of fresh air amidst the dominance of ‘Diablo 2’. ‘Diablo 3’ was yet to overcome the negative repercussions of its shaky launch. A decade later, the landscape has significantly changed. ‘Diablo 4’ has had a smoother start compared to its predecessor, and new games like ‘Lost Ark’, ‘Last Epoch’, and ‘Grim Dawn’ pose tough competition to ‘Path of Exile 2’, which is still in its early access phase. However, in a recent interview with PC Gamer, Jonathan Rogers, the Game Director of ‘Path of Exile 2’, stated that dominating the ARPG genre isn’t the primary objective. He believes that the genre has room for multiple successful games.

Report: Unannounced Expansion and ‘Definitive Edition’ of Hogwarts Legacy Cancelled
Source: PC Gamer – March 27, 2025
A recent report from Bloomberg indicates that plans for a new expansion of Hogwarts Legacy, as well as a “Definitive Edition” release that intended to bundle the base game with the new content, have been canceled amid Warner’s game business restructuring. While the expansion was never formally announced, the “Definitive Edition” was speculated to be the director’s cut version reported in 2024. According to the Bloomberg report, the decision to cancel the expansion was made as the prospective content yield could not justify its production costs. This news comes in the wake of Warner’s game division undergoing significant restructuring earlier this year, triggered by the notable failures of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Multiversus, which collectively bore a hefty loss of $300 million.

Players can set and pursue various goals as they interact with other Zois in the town. The gameplay also includes the possibility of violent interactions between Zois, depending on the prompts chosen by players (e.g., “Pick a fight”; “Throw a punch”).

Greedfall 2 Strives to Recover from a Poor Early Access Launch with Combat Overhaul and New Ship Addition
Source: PC Gamer – March 27, 2025
In his September 2024 preview of Greedfall 2, PC Gamer’s Fraser Brown described the decision by developer Spiders to completely revamp the original game’s combat system and release it in a rough early access state as a “risky gamble”. These words proved to be quite prophetic. Although the first Greedfall game is highly regarded, especially among fans of the old-school European RPG (Eurojank), Greedfall 2 has not been received as positively. The main criticism is its combat system. Numerous negative reviews on Steam, many from fans of the first game, describe it as slow, shallow, clunky, and simply not fun.

An Underrated Anime Golf Game Series Welcomes its First PC Entry in Nearly 30 Years
Source: PC Gamer – March 27, 2025
Despite its general underappreciation, golf has carved a unique niche within the realm of video game sports. The overall disinterest in this genre can often be attributed to the fact that many of these games are populated by real-life golfers who, while they may be celebrities to some, merely appear as a random collection of individuals to many others. This is where the unique appeal of ‘Everybody’s Golf’ comes in.
Established in the late ’90s, ‘Everybody’s Golf’ skillfully merges a relaxed, cartoonish style with authentic, solid physics, and movement mechanics. This delightful blend has allowed it to quietly infiltrate the golf game genre, making it the only series where I’ve found genuine enjoyment in the repetitive action of swinging a golf club at a ball.
