Life After Fable Delay: What This Means for April’s Gaming Scene

Fred · · 8 min read

You know that feeling when you’re waiting for your food delivery, and it just keeps getting delayed? That’s kind of how I feel about the Fable reboot. It turns out it might be pushed to 2027, and all because of concerns about the impending GTA 6 release. I mean, I love some chaos in Los Santos as much as the next person, but the idea of waiting even longer for a new Fable is just painful. let’s look into what’s keeping us entertained in the meantime, and maybe catch a few surprises along the way.

If you’re a Nintendo person, you might not care, but the Fable reboot may be getting pushed back to 2027. Microsoft is apparently sweating over its launch clashing with the juggernaut that is GTA 6. Jeff Grubb, our friendly neighborhood rumor mill, spilled on GameSpot that the game might still hit this year, but Playground is having cold feet. Can you blame them? GTA 6 is pretty much the Godzilla of game releases, and no one’s keen to pick a fight with a giant lizard.

The reboot, proudly British and inspired by The Office (but let’s hope it’s not your office), is still planned for a PS5 debut. That’s big news for Sony fans who have missed out on the chicken-filled adventures of past Fable games. Side note: what’s with games and chickens lately? Anyway, Microsoft’s got plenty in the pipeline, including Forza Horizon 6 and Halo: Campaign Evolved, so we might not even notice Fable’s absence until they give us an official date. But come on, Microsoft, stop teasing us and just tell us when you’re actually aiming for.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release date anticipated as footage wows CinemaCon audience

If you’re a Nintendo person, you might be missing out on the web-slinging excitement over at CinemaCon. The final installment of the Spider-Verse trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is set to swing into theaters even earlier than we expected. Polygon reports that the lucky audience at CinemaCon got a sneak peek of some jaw-dropping footage, and if their reactions are anything to go by, we’re in for quite the visual treat.

Let’s be honest, the Spider-Verse movies have set a pretty high bar. The animation style alone has been a game-changer, with its comic book feel bringing something fresh to the table. Some might call it the best thing to happen to Spider-Man since Tobey Maguire’s infamous dance routine. The anticipation is real, but hopefully this earlier release date means we won’t have to wait much longer to see what happens to Miles, Gwen, and the rest of the multiverse gang.

Personally, I’m cautiously optimistic. Sequels can be tricky, and sticking the landing on a trilogy is even tougher. But if the CinemaCon buzz is anything to go by, Beyond the Spider-Verse might just close out the series on a high note. Fingers crossed for a story that does justice to the new visuals and beloved characters we’ve come to adore.

Marathon will test out a new experimental game mode which forces players to use free sponsored kits

Marathon will test out a new experimental game mode which forces players to use free sponsored kits
Source: Eurogamer

Speaking of sequels, Marathon is shaking things up with a new experimental game mode that might just level the playing field. If you’ve been getting stomped by players decked out like they’re preparing for the apocalypse, this one’s for you. According to Eurogamer, the upcoming mode will force everyone to use free sponsored kits. No more sweating over who invested in the best gear. It’s like a skill-based democracy.

This mode is perfect for those of us who can’t justify dropping a week’s paycheck on virtual loot. It could finally spotlight player skill instead of wallet size. But let’s not get too excited too quickly. Sponsored kits might come with their own quirks. What if the “free” part means giving up some in-game real estate to obnoxious ads? We’ll have to wait and see.

Whether this experiment sticks around or fades like a buggy launch, it’s a bold move that could change how we approach the game. But in the end, it all depends on whether players embrace it. This could be a hit if it boosts fair play. Or maybe it’s just another fleeting gimmick. Time will tell.

Over on the PC side, we’re gearing up for the Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s City Town DLC. If you’re like me and can’t get enough of this sugary-sweet universe, then Usahana’s arrival is probably already making you twitch with anticipation. PC Gamer says that this expansion is going to give us a whole new area to explore on Friendship Island. So, it’s time to start prepping.

But hold your horses, fellow adventurers. Hello Kitty Island Adventure DLCs can be a slow burn. Rushing in without a plan could mean missing out on all the charm. My advice? Check that your in-game resources are stacked and maybe revisit any untouched quests. We don’t want to miss a single pastel-colored moment in City Town.

Dosa Divas: The Kotaku Review

Meanwhile, Outerloop’s Dosa Divas has hit the scene, and according to Kotaku, it’s a bit undercooked. This bite-sized RPG has all the spices you’d expect from a game with “dosa” in its title, but maybe not quite enough time in the oven. The game promises rich storytelling and unique characters, but reportedly falls short when it comes to engaging gameplay mechanics. It’s like ordering a gourmet meal and finding out they forgot the salt.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for indie games that take risks and offer fresh narratives. But when the substance doesn’t quite match the style, it’s hard not to feel a bit let down. If you’re a fan of Outerloop’s previous work, you might still want to give it a go. Just don’t expect a feast.

For the RPG fans, it looks like Pragmata might be making waves as an early contender for Game of the Year. Capcom’s latest, a fresh IP in 2026, blends third-person action with hacking minigames and a charming narrative. It’s got us dodging lethal robots and playing hide-and-seek with Diana, the adorable co-protagonist, which is definitely a combo you don’t see every day. GameSpot’s Steve Watts highlights its “sharp combat mechanics” and “lovely storytelling,” landing it a solid 85 on Metacritic so far. Capcom’s been on a roll this year, adding Pragmata to their list of hits alongside Resident Evil Requiem and Monster Hunter Stories 3. If you’re intrigued, mark April 17 on your calendar for its release on PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. But keep an eye on those other big titles like Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine, which are also vying for our precious gaming time this year.

Nintendo sends Animal Crossing players a nostalgic surprise on the series’ 25th anniversary

Shifting gears, Nintendo’s giving us a little nostalgia trip with Animal Crossing’s 25th anniversary. Our virtual island life started way back in 2001 with Dōbutsu no Mori on the N64, and let’s be honest, it’s come a long way since then.
