Welcome to TAG Roundup!
Ever wonder what you missed in the world of gaming last week? No worries – we’ve got you covered!
We read a ton of video game articles each week and wanted to share some of our favorites with the Average Gamer community. We’ll feature everything from previews to reviews and everything in between.
The articles we share will be from a combination of well-known sources (like IGN) and more niche blogs that you may not have heard of. In the previous TAG Roundup post, we talked about Super Smash Ultimate, a Final Fantasy MMORPG, a new battle royale game and more!
Here we go!
High-End PC Gaming at a Reasonable Price – PC Gamer
If you want to get a top of the line PC gaming rig, it’ll often cost you over two thousand dollars. You can get around this by buying all the parts separately then assembling the computer yourself, but this is more time-consuming.
Dell’s G5 gaming desktop is now on sale for a little over $1,300 and it’s equipped with some pretty nice specs for the price tag:
- i7-9700
- RTX 2080
- 16 GB RAM
- 256 GB SSD
This is $440 off (using code 200OFF1599) the list price so you can use some of the savings to purchase a large hard drive. Decent deal for people who are in the market for a gaming desktop!
Retro Gaming with Konami – Digital Trends
I’ve only heard whispers of the TurboGrafx16 a handful of times on Twitter. It sounds like an overlooked gaming console that never really took off.
Now, Konami is hopping on the nostalgia train and releasing the mini version of this 80s console!
Digital Trends got to capture some early gameplay footage in their preview. The controllers look incredibly old school, but I’m digging it.
The console will release on March 19th and you can pick one up for $100. Hop over to Amazon to pre-order yours today!
Super Nintendo Land Announcement – NBC Miami
Last year, I wrote about the upcoming Super Nintendo World section of Universal Orlando. At the time, nothing had been confirmed. Now, a Nintendo exec made a statement on the most recent earnings call to let gamers everywhere know that the park is expected to open in 2023!
The first Super Nintendo Land will open sometime in 2020 in Japan so we’ll hopefully get a good idea of what to expect from the US version. Stayed tuned for more announcements!

Top Ps4 Shooters – Digital Trends
The PS4 has had some incredible games released since it’s 2013 launch. Among them are many excellent shooter games.
Digital Trends put together a list of their top ones so you can pick up a new title if this is your thing!
I can personally recommend Overwatch, Apex Legends, CoD: Modern Warfare, Uncharted 4, and Helldivers. I’m also looking forward to trying Titanfall 2, Killzone, and Superhot.
Take a look a their list to see if any of the other titles interest you.
Apex Legends Forge News – Dexerto
Respawn announced that Forge will be the next legend to hit the Apex games. He’s a brawling character with a kit that is eerily similar to Overwatch’s own Doomfist.
At first glance, he seems really over-power. However, we saw a trailer today that suggests he might have been murdered!
Regardless, Dexerto put together a comparison of how Forge stacks up against some of the competitors already in the game. He’s got a similar build to Gibraltor, a striking force greater than Pathfinder’s and a draw speed that is comparable to that of Bangalore.
Hopefully, we’ll get to use Forge in the coming weeks of Apex!
Battlefield 5 Update – Gamespot
While Battlefield V doesn’t have as big of a following as other current shooters, the devs at DICE continue to release new content in free updates. Their recent announcement show “Chapter 6: Into the Jungle” with a January 28th go-live date.
The community will get a new map, expanding the available levels again to follow on the December Wake Island release. There will also be new weapons and gadgets brought into the chapter rank system.
Leave a message below if you’re playing Battlefield V and let us know what you think about the new update!

More Realistic Battlefield – PC Gamer
Speaking of Battlefield, has anyone heard of the Project Reality mod to the game? As the name suggests, it attempts to make the game more like a military battle and less like a run-and-go, be the hero, spray and pray shooting simulator.
In Squad, the developers build on the success of Project Reality while continuing to emphasize “squad-based” play with the folks on your team. They’ve got ex-military guys working as developers to ensure that the play feels as close as possible to what you’d experience on a real battlefield.
If you’re looking for a game that rewards teamwork and isn’t necessarily about racking up a bunch of kills, Squad might be the next game to add to your library.
