Welcome to TAG Roundup!
Ever wonder what you missed in the world of gaming last week? No worries – we’ve got you covered!
We read a ton of video game articles each week and wanted to share some of our favorites with the Average Gamer community. We’ll feature everything from previews to reviews and everything in between.
The articles we share will be from a combination of well-known sources (like IGN) and more niche blogs that you may not have heard of. In the previous TAG Roundup post, we talked about the Gameboy, 8K VR, a FFXV MMORPG and more!
Here we go!
More Smash Ultimate Fighters – Polygon
When Super Smash released back in 2018, the game had a roster as big as your imagination! Since launch, the devs have continued to add DLC with new fighters pretty frequently.
In the upcoming Fighters Pass Vol. 2, we’ll see six new fighters! All six will hit the game before the end of 2021 so stayed tuned for announcements over the next couple of years.
Switch Pro Controller Mount – Nintendo Life
The Nintendo Switch is great for on-the-go, high-quality gaming. Some games play just fine with the standard Joy-Cons, but for others, you’re gonna want to use a Pro Controller (ie. Breath of the Wild, which I will finish sometime in 2020).
Well, ask and you shall receive!
This mount snaps onto your pro controller and lets your portable device sit nicely above in a cradle. It looks like a great addition to your airplane carry-on and is available to pre-order now from Amazon Japan.

FFXV MMORPG – Polygon
I think about 85% of my friends have played through at least a part of Skyrim in the last decade. Its sprawling terrains and endless side quest make for an incredible RPG experience.
Bethesda is now bringing the Skyrim experience into The Elder Scrolls Online! We’ll see module one of four by the end of March 2020 and its content will be available on the test server this week.
The plan is to release one additional module every quarter and you can pre-order online here. It looks like some cool additional content if you’re already into this game.
Hunt: Showdown News – IGN
Describe as a horror shooter, Hunt: Showdown pits you against both other players and monsters in the environment. There’s an element of permadeath which will turn some people away from the game, but you can still advance the status of your overall account.
The devs are releasing the game to PS4 on February 18, 2020 as well as crossplay with Xbox One players. You gather clues, search for clues and eventually can face off against a very strong boss.
This is a high-tension spin on the battle royale genre so check it out if you’re looking for a scarier title than Fortnite or Apex Legends.
Fortnite on Atari – Bleeding Cool
We expect to see the Atari VCS sometime this spring and the hype continues to build on the upcoming console. At this year’s CES, the company showed off the console’s power by running Fortnite in their “unique PC sandbox”!
Given this demonstrated ability to run Windows and Linux programs, the console becomes a lot more intriguing for gamers. I’m sure the creator world will have a great time pushing the console to its limits and possibly creating exclusive indie games for the Atari VCS.
Another BR – Express
Darwin Project has been available in early access on the PC and is now available in the Playstation Store. This battle royale has the typical murdering of enemy players but adds a unique twist. One player is assigned to be the Show Director, who can bring more chaos to the arena in a manner reminiscent of the Hunger Games Master.
Everyone starts with a bow and arrow and is able to gather materials, track other players and try to be the last person standing. This feels like what we’d get if The Hunger Games was ported to a video game by Naughty Dog with some influence from Realm Royale.
This will likely appeal to a small niche in the competitive shooter market for folks looking to do more than just run and gun.
Top PSP Games – Popular Mechanics
The PSP is, in my opinion, an underrated console. It had the best portable graphics at the time, good UI and paired well with the PS3.
In this article, Brittany Vincent shares her top 25 PSP games of all time. I owned the console back in the day and can definitely give a +1 to the following titles:
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- Killzone: Liberation
- LocoRoco 2
You can find a used console online for about $30 and it’s definitely worth it if you don’t want to splurge on a Nintendo Switch.
Switch Adaptive Controller – Kotaku
You already know how I feel about creators and tinkerers. It’s even more awesome when someone creates for a good cause.
This day altered the Xbox Adaptive Controller to work for the Nintendo Switch so his daughter can enjoy Breath of the Wild!
It took a lot of planning, electric work, and dedication, but the final outcome is both beautiful and inspiring. Props to you, Rory!
