Last Week in Gaming – August 6, 2019

Welcome to TAG Roundup!

Ever wonder what you missed in the world of gaming last week? No worries – we’ve got you covered!

We read a ton of video game articles each week and wanted to share some of our favorites with the Average Gamer community. We’ll feature everything from previews to reviews and everything in between.

The articles we share will be from a combination of well-known sources (like IGN) and more niche blogs that you may not have heard of. In the previous TAG Roundup post, we talked about the Asus ROG Phone, a new competitive training card game and more!

I spent most of this weekend celebrating Flash’s incredible wedding, so this one will be a little shorter than normal :] (read, I’m feeling real lazy right now)

Diablo in Chrome? – PC Gamer

Who remembers the original Diablo PC game from the mid-90s? I kind of do, so I jumped in this browser-based version for some quick lolz. It runs surprisingly well but some of the features, like chatting with NPCs, aren’t available in the shareware version.

It’s fun for a little bit, so go get your daily dose of nostalgia here.

Overwatch Hero Development – Gamespot

Sigma is Blizzard’s newest hero in Overwatch and he’s already making waves in the PTR. This article gives some interesting insight into the creation of a new hero in the team-based shooter. He started off as “Talon anchor tank” and was eventually formed into the shoeless, levitating armored man that you see today.

Ninja Makes a Big Switch – The Verge

Back in our Fortnite days, we watched a good amount of Ninja footage on Twitch. Now, he’s taking his talents to the Microsoft streaming service, Mixer. He signed a big contract and will continue to make millions of dollars each year by playing video games…sigh. One day maybe I will too get paid millions for this.

CoD TDM Gameplay – Gamespot

I really enjoyed my 3+ months of Call of Duty binge gaming last year. The trailer for the upcoming release has me curious about picking this game at a modest discount. There are tanks, smooth animations, new kill streaks and high potential for rage quits. Should be a good time!

Pokemon Pop-up Bar – WLWT

What do you get when you combine food with pocket monsters? Some not-so-surprisingly cute cheeseburgers, that’s what.

You’ll need to dish out $45 to enter but it’s certainly worth it to hang out with other pokefans while competing in poketrivia and listening to pokemusic! Oh, also you’ll need to go to Cincinatti on March 28th or 29th so start jotting down your 2020 plans.

VR Games to Add to Your Collection – Popular Mechanics

I have high hopes for VR once the price comes down. The majority of the cost is tied to the requirement for a high-powered gaming PC but it’s possible that the next generation of consoles will break things wide open for the masses.

Out of this list, these titles caught my eye:

  • Batman: Arkham VR
  • Beat Saber
  • EVE: Valkyrie
  • Superhot VR

Semi-related, here are a bunch of VR games from this year’s E3!

More Laziness

These articles were in my queue but I don’t feel like creating a section for each of them. Oh well.

  • Free PC Games for August Twitch Prime Members – Gamespot
  • Git Gud with Apex Match Tracking – Dexerto
  • Single Bullet GoldeneEye Run – Kotaku
That’s All For Now
