Welcome to TAG Roundup!
Ever wonder what you missed in the world of gaming last week? No worries – we’ve got you covered!
We read a ton of video game articles each week and wanted to share some of our favorites with the Average Gamer community. We’ll feature everything from previews to reviews and everything in between.
The articles we share will be from a combination of well-known sources (like IGN) and more niche blogs that you may not have heard of. In the previous TAG Roundup post, we talked about Anthem, Space Exploration, Quidditch and more!
At the top of the hour, we’ve got an update on Amazon’s upcoming MMORPG, New World.
Amazon’s Enters the MMORPG Market With New World – IGN
I started playing mass multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) back in the 90s but haven’t kept up much with the scene since high school. I know World of Warcraft made a resurgence with the release of WoW Classic and we may be trending towards more online quests now that Amazon is throwing their money behind an MMORPG!
Available later this year, New World is set in the 17th century on a mysterious island. There’s danger and adventure to be had as you build Companies – think ‘guilds’ – through your travels.
New World recently had a beta period and the folks over at IGN got to test some gameplay. Amazon seems to hit the nail on the head with the combat system and the weapon physics sound legit.
Interestingly, New World also doesn’t have a class system. Instead, you work your way up Weapon Mastery trees and level up base attributes.
Amazon’s New World is set to launch on May 26, 2020, and you can pre-order now!

New Update for No Man’s Sky – Xbox Wire
The No Man’s Sky developers have been really busy since launch. It would have been easy for them to throw in the towel after a sub-par base game. Instead, there’s been a steady stream of new, free content in an attempt to regain the trust of the gaming community.
They’ve delivered in a big way and the current state of the game is more in line with what folks were expecting from the beginning.
The newest update adds living ships to the game, organisms that the player will need to grow and hatch from eggs. Living ships are currently available on the Xbox One, but I expect this feature to be added to the PS4 eventually.

Gothic PS5 Remake – Push Square
THQ’s Gothic has been around for almost two decades, with an emphasis on rich gameplay inside a living world. The original game has very positive reviews on Steam and a recent survey showed that many players would be thrilled to see a remake!
THQ Nordic has obliged, responding:
We are up for the challenge to develop a full Gothic remake which will stay as faithfully as possible to the original experience and transport the atmospheric world of Gothic into a high quality look and carefully modernising certain gameplay mechanics.
Development of large-scale RPGs typically takes many years, but they will have plenty of people ready to purchase once it’s available.

Disney Board Games – Games Radar
Who knew that Disney was responsible for some of the best board games out there?
They’re now working on a new board game called Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power. Each player progresses on their own board and tried to put barriers in the rivals’ way. Villains have unique powers but we don’t have details on the Soul Mark tokens yet.
It’s due for an August 2020 release date and you can grab it for $34.99.

Borderlands Movie!! – Polygon
Borderlands is an excellent loot-shooter series, with hilarious dialogue and unique weapons. 5 years ago, the Borderlands movie was announced. Now, Eli Roth and crew are making this dream a reality!
The team will include executives from both Gearbox and Take-Two Interactive to ensure the big screen adaptation stays true to the video games. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this potentially-monumental film.

Twitch Makes Sense of LoL – Endgadget
League of Legends is a wildly complex game. I played for a few hours after watching several tutorials and was blown away by the high skill ceiling.Â
Twitch understands this fact, and they’ve added a browser extension that helps viewers better understand the real-time gameplay. Now, you can see which skills, runes and items your favorite streamers are using to dominate on the battlefield.Â
The game isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so now might be a good time to try to get into the LoL scene.

Super Mario on PS4 – Nintendo Life
It seems every week I’m now talking about created content made in Dreams. Now, the Dream creators seem fixed on bringing the iconic plumber to the Sony World.
These levels evoke the spirit of everything from Super Mario 64 to Mario Kart. If you’re open to going down a Mario rabbit hole, go to Youtube for more Mario Dreams creations. Make sure to let me know your favorite ones!
