Just read that Blizzard might be working on a mobile version of Overwatch 2. Given how the game’s been struggling, I’m not sure if this is the right direction. Mobile FPS games like CoD Mobile and PUBG have massive audiences, so I can see the potential. But is this the fix the community needs, or are they risking alienating the core players who want better content and fixes instead? What do you all think? Would you play Overwatch 2 on mobile?

I’m not sure how they could put the game on mobile with the play style of the game. It’s such a team based game, I don’t think it would play well on mobile. The only way it could work is if they make a watered down version. Rocket League Sideswipe is an amazing example of how they changed the regular version of the game to work on mobile for the better.

Is Overwatch struggling? I feel that they’ve done a lot of good since launch with adding new heroes, maps, and game modes.

I think Blizzard should be focusing on winning the confidence of its core user base back. It’s no secret the game is struggling in terms of balance (see the 5v5 vs 6v6 debates), content (see battle pass replacing loot box system), and gameplay advances. I would be worried about all of the visual and sound cues necessary for this team shooter carrying over to mobile in a pleasant way. I like the suggestion of an alternate watered down version but that should be after they address the main game’s issues.

good call out changing the version to work better on mobile. struggling was definitely the wrong word in my original post. i moreso meant how the devs promised so many features ahead of ow2 launch but haven’t delivered on many of them, specifically on PVE mode. based on this site, it looks like player count has been relatively consistent over the last several months:

but it looks like a much smaller community compared to the other popular shooter games

I think it’s cool tbh! I’m not super into the competitive stuff, but if I could play on my phone while I’m out, that’d be awesome! Not sure how well it’ll work tho… Overwatch seems kinda complicated for mobile.

LOL imagine trying to pull off a D.Va ult on mobile and missing the whole enemy team. Sounds fun af but also a mess. I mean, I’d try it, but idk if it’s what the game needs right now.

I don’t mind it as long as they don’t forget about us PC/console players. I’m just here to chill, but fixing matchmaking and balance should be their main focus. Still, I’d give mobile a shot if it’s decent.

I get the mobile market is huge, but this feels like a distraction. Overwatch 2 still needs better balancing, and the matchmaking system is a mess. I’d rather see them fix the core game before spreading themselves thin.
