Season 10 of Apex Legends dropped last week. Along with the arrival of Seer, many other legends saw buffs and nerfs leading us to our Apex Legends Season 10 Tier List. The oft-forgotten legend, Bangalore, remained unchanged. Enough is enough, Respawn. Give Bangalore some love!
Bangalore’s Kit
- Passive: Double Time – Taking fire while sprinting makes you move faster (30%) for a brief time (2 seconds).
- Tactical: Smoke Launcher – Fire a high-velocity smoke canister that explodes into a smoke wall on impact.
- Ultimate: Rolling Thunder – Call in an artillery strike that slowly creeps across the landscape.
The Bangalore Problem
Bangalore isn’t bad. She receives a bit of movement buff when fired upon. Her ultimate is a great repositioning tool and third-party device. Finally, her smoke to revive tactic prevents enemies from thirsting from across a POI. She’s perfectly average.
Well, she was.
With the continued expansion of scouting legends and minor nerfs to Bangalore’s smoke, her advantages are being squashed both directly and indirectly. Here are a few suggestions to give everyone’s favorite IMC Soldier some attention.
Solution 1: Add A 2nd Passive – Reduced Reload Time
Rampart was the first legend who hit the scene with an in-game preference towards specific weaponry. Following this pattern, Bangalore should receive a buff when reloading specific weapons. Which type? Well, if you visit Bangalore’s character page, you’ll find that:
“[Bangalore] was top of her class at the IMC Military Academy and the only cadet who could take apart a Peacekeeper, equip it with a Precision Choke hop-up, and put it back together in under twenty seconds – blindfolded.”
This is the least-polished idea on the list. However, preventing Bangalore from being hampered by her own ability in the same way Caustic and Fuse are not, is an area to explore. If you have an eye for Apex guns, you’ll also notice Bangalore donning a G7 Scout. Following this logic, we propose that Bangalore receives reduced reload times for Shotguns and Marksman’s weapons. The specific reduced time amount can be balanced by the developers.
Solution 2: Add A Sight-Enhancing Ability
While Bangalore’s smoke canister ability has seen better days and metas, it still is viable. It’s a very disruptive cloud of smoke. So disruptive that it can, and will, disrupt you and your own teammates.
One way to combat this would be to provide an ability for Bangalore to reconfigure any sight into her own digital threat. Now, this has the potential to make Bangalore anywhere from OP to straight broken in the right hands. The balancing act would be to make sure she can’t do this at will. Perhaps, allowing one use per match would be sufficient. This would prevent Bangalore from creating digital threats for her entire squad and reaping havoc on the lobby.
Solution 3: Buff Double Time Passive
Bangalore is among the top tier of legends in escability. After Octane and Wraith, not many legends can claim to be superior at getting out of dodge like Bangalore. Still, one way to make her a stronger legend would be to address her Double Time.
How cool would it be if in addition to the ability to deploy smoke canisters to cover your getaway, Bangalore automatically left vision-impairing effects behind her during her Double Time. What does this mean exactly? Well, based on the environment, Bangalore could kick up snow, sand, dirt, etc. on enemies that are following her. The effect would be on the enemy screens whether ADS-ing or not. Think of the Blooper item in Mario Kart but more realistic. To keep this balanced, the effects could be seen and avoided to prevent automatically being distorted.
The passive wouldn’t always take effect. If indoors, for example, there wouldn’t be any effect on the tile floors. This would add an element of playing around your strengths like a handful of other legends.
How Would You Buff Bangalore?
With the drastic changes we’ve seen to Mirage and Octane, it only makes sense that the devs would take another look at Bangalore’s kit. These three ideas would elevate her from the bottom of the tier list and make her a lot more fun to play!
