Remember when console sales were a snooze-fest because everyone was obsessed with mobile games? Well, March 2026 just gave that narrative a big ol’ wedgie. Console sales hit the roof in the US last month. It’s like everyone and their grandma is buying a console right now. Buckle up, because we’ve got a bunch of other gaming news to sift through, too. Let’s dive in.

March 2026 Was A Huge Month For Console Sales In The US

March 2026 was a blockbuster month for console sales in the US. Circana’s report showed a 69% leap in hardware sales compared to last year, raking in $500 million. What’s driving this insane growth? The Switch 2, baby. It topped the charts, not just in units, but in dollars too. Sorry PS5, you’re in second place. For now.

The Switch 2 is sizzling. Over its first ten months, it’s outperforming the OG Switch by 12%. And yes, that includes the holiday month when Switch 1 was riding high back in December 2017. If you’re shocked, don’t be. Nintendo knows how to keep us coming back. Maybe it’s those pesky Joy-Cons. Still, you have to wonder why Circana left Xbox out of the party. Probably licking its wounds somewhere.

In total, hardware spending reached $1.074 billion for the year so far, up 37% from last year. Clearly, we’re all in on our gaming passions. Oh, and a quick side note: MLB The Show 26 slid into April’s top spot for game sales. Nice work from Sony there, even though Resident Evil Requiem is the best-seller of 2026 so far.

Gamers Are Suing Nintendo For Tariff Refunds

Gamers Are Suing Nintendo For Tariff Refunds

Some gamers are teaming up against Nintendo to claim tariff refunds. Yep, you heard that right. Our favorite console maker is chasing the dollar following a Supreme Court ruling that thumbed its nose at Trump’s tariffs. According to Kotaku, Nintendo, along with other companies, is seeking to cash in on this judicial about-face.

So, what’s the deal? Basically, the tariffs on goods like our beloved video game consoles were deemed a no-go, and now Nintendo is trying to get some cash back for the extra costs they had to eat. And who can blame them? If you were overcharged at the diner for coffee, you’d want your change too.

It’s a smart move financially, but it does make us wonder. Will any of these savings trickle down to us gamers? Or is it just going to pad the company’s pockets? Only time will tell. For now, we’ll just keep dreaming of cheaper games and consoles. Maybe one day we’ll see some of this money reflected in our wallets.

Meanwhile, in the land of voice actors trying their hand at game development, Abubakar Salim has some sage advice for Troy Baker. Or rather, a joking warning: “Don’t do it.” With Mouse: P.I. for Hire already turning heads and the Switch 2 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the horizon, Baker is back in the spotlight. Eurogamer highlighted that he’s been teasing about starting his own game studio, which is as ambitious as it sounds.

It’s always a wild ride when folks from other parts of the industry decide to jump into game development. Salim’s playful caution might be more rooted in reality than it seems. Creating a game studio isn’t just about creativity. It’s about dealing with publishers, managing a team, and somehow keeping your sanity intact. Still, Baker’s got a lot of clout and experience, so maybe he can pull it off. Or maybe he’ll join the long list of industry veterans who realized it’s not as easy as it looks.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 review: The best Stranger Things season since 2019

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 might just be the best thing to come from the franchise since we all cried through the end of season three in 2019. Polygon reports that this new entry brings us back to the roots of what made the series a sensation with clever writing and top-notch voice acting. It’s got that nostalgia factor we crave, mixed with engaging storytelling that doesn’t let up. If you need a reason to forget the world for a bit, this might be your escape ticket. Sure, it’s a game and not a Netflix bender, but it hits all the right notes for fans. The Upside Down has never been so right-side up.

Seagate FireCuda X Vault review

Let’s talk about storage. If you’re like me, you’ve daydreamed about cramming endless games onto your PC without breaking the bank. That’s where Seagate’s FireCuda X Vault comes into play. PC Gamer points out that hard disk drives still hold a special place in our hearts because they offer the most storage per dollar. SSDs might be fast and fancy, but the cost of DRAM and flash memory is through the roof right now. So, if you need to hoard every AAA title and indie gem like a digital dragon, HDDs might be your best bet.

Seagate has been in this game for ages, and their range of external HDDs has got us covered. Sure, they won’t win any speed awards, but when it comes to value for money, it’s hard to beat. With the current prices of other storage options, the FireCuda X Vault is looking like a pretty solid choice.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has shot up to become 2026’s No. 1 global movie, taking the crown from China’s Pegasus 3. Nintendo’s animated film has raked in $752 million worldwide, with a hefty $358.7 million coming from North America alone. Meanwhile, Pegasus 3 made nearly all its money in China, with just a sprinkle of $1.37 million in the US. If you haven’t heard of Pegasus 3, you’re definitely not alone.

Critics might not be sold on the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but audiences seem to love it. Shigeru Miyamoto, the mastermind behind Mario, can’t quite wrap his head around the negative reviews. Maybe critics are just missing their inner child? As we look forward, Nintendo’s got big plans with a Legend of Zelda movie in the works for 2027. Let’s hope they keep the magic alive in their cinematic ventures. Oh, and according to GameSpot, the Switch 2 is still leading console sales in the US for 2026. Who needs a console war when Nintendo’s winning on all fronts?
