Zelda Games on Switch 2 Edition Won’t Support Cloud Saves for Data Backup

Source: Eurogamer – April 17, 2025

The Switch 2 Editions of Zelda games, namely Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, surprisingly do not support cloud saves for data backup. It is currently unclear why this feature is missing. A disclaimer on the store pages of these games states: “Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature.” Interestingly, this disclaimer is absent from other Switch 2 Edition games, such as Super Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, making the exclusion of Zelda games all the more perplexing. This disclaimer only appears on the US and EU store pages.

‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage’ (Tape 2) Review

Source: Eurogamer – April 17, 2025

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (Tape 2) delivers a narrative with heightened emotional stakes and a fast-paced drama, setting up an explosive climax that intriguingly holds back its biggest reveal. Please note that this article contains spoilers for ‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage’ (Tape 1).

In the previous installment of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, the game’s developer, Don’t Nod, left players hanging on a significant cliffhanger. The first half of this captivating adventure unfolded gradually, taking time to introduce the main characters as teenagers in the 1990s. This approach was designed to make players feel invested in the development of their friendships. However, the story was interspersed with ominous flashforwards to the present day, where most of the group reunites 27 years later to confront a serious incident that took place in the intervening years.

‘Tabletop Tavern’: A Blend of Total War and Slay The Spire in a Medieval Games Workshop Setting

Source: Rock Paper Shotgun – April 17, 2025

Tabletop Tavern, while a brilliant concept, is not quite the perfect salve for the Total War: Warhammer itch yet. The units sometimes behave inconsistently, charges lack the desired impact, and the early battles need more variety and intrigue. However, the game’s core idea is captivating: players maneuver actual tabletop miniatures within a medieval tavern, progressively building their army via Slay The Spire-like branching progression nodes. It offers a unique strategy experience that’s rare to find, and it’s even more impressive considering it’s the work of a solo developer.

Source: Eurogamer – April 16, 2025

Earlier this month, Microsoft unveiled a publicly available demo of its video game-centered generative AI model, Muse. The demo was quite significant as it showcased a playable, browser-based AI version of the iconic first-person shooter, Quake 2. However, instead of being received as an impressive display of Microsoft’s advancements in artificial intelligence, the Quake 2 “Copilot gaming experience” faced widespread criticism from the gaming community. The negative feedback varied greatly, with some members of the public describing it as “abhorrent” and “akin to a horrific Nyquil-induced sleep paralysis”, to a Forbes review that labeled the game as “an abomination”.

‘Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound’ – A Fiery Return to Its Roots

Source: Rock Paper Shotgun – April 16, 2025

How many times has Hayabusa village been set aflame? Fans of the Ninja Gaiden series may have lost count. This venerable franchise has evolved considerably since its humble beginnings on the NES, but the recurrent theme of the incinerated village has become a beloved inside joke. Ninja Gaiden games are a blend of various qualities, featuring Ryu Hayabusa, who is tasked with eliminating his adversaries repeatedly. However, the forthcoming ‘Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound’ is set to take a detour, returning to 2D gameplay, this time largely without Ryu. I had the chance to experience the “neo-retro” action platformer during a demo session where the familiar hero reappeared as a tutorial mentor players can spar with.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has reaffirmed Microsoft’s commitment to support the upcoming Switch 2, praising Nintendo as a “great partner”. In 2022, Microsoft entered a decade-long agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo, contingent on the completion of its then-pending acquisition of Activision Blizzard – a deal that was finalized in October 2023. Spencer has recently elaborated on Microsoft’s backing for the successor to the Switch, noting that Nintendo’s consoles offer “a unique avenue to connect with gamers who are not typically found on PC or Xbox”.

Securing the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless at Almost Its Best Price Yet

Source: Rock Paper Shotgun – April 17, 2025

The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless has been on my radar for quite some time. Now that the price has dipped to $269.99 from its original $349.99, it’s finally time to make the purchase. This 23% discount brings the price tantalizingly close to its historical low. While I don’t often get overly excited about headsets, this particular model checks all the boxes and then some. It’s incredibly versatile, functioning seamlessly across PS5, PC, Switch, and even mobile platforms, eliminating the need to constantly switch equipment as if I were in the middle of a frantic cable management speedrun. The sound quality is incredible. The neodymium magnetic drivers are far more than just some technical jargon.
